How to add an article to the Cosburn Documents Library
The library is a long-term resource to help board members and senior volunteers operate the club. If there are instructions, how-tos, or reference documents you’d like to share, you may submit them here. Jump to the Article Submission Form.
Some general tips for writing instructional articles:
Keep your topic focussed. Several short articles on narrow topics are better than one rambling article.
Think about your intended reader. Put yourself in the shoes of the person looking for your solution. What question are they asking themselves? That question may be the best title for an article. What words are they using in the search bar? Use those words in the article.
Remember who has access. Although the library documents are not visible to the public, many members do have access. Don’t include anything confidential here.
Take someone through the problem and solution in a logical way. If you’re writing a how-to, it should usually be in chronological order—first do this, then do this, and finally do that. Or, start with big-picture general principles before honing in on specific details.
Write as if you’re explaining it to your best friend. Write simply. You don’t need to be fancy.
It doesn’t have to be perfect. When you submit your article, the Communications team will review it before it’s posted. We’ll ask you if something is confusing or incomplete. And we may edit it for length and clarity before posting.
The library is also where we store copies of instruction manuals for equipment at the club. If you have a manual as a pdf or other file, you may upload it here.
If you have any questions about posting an article or need help, please contact the Communications chair.
Thank you for filling our library shelves!
