Changing a user role

All members of the club (current and past going back a few years) have a website user profile in WordPress. Most are “subscribers,” which confers no special access on the site. A few members have other roles that give them access to various pages and functions. For example, members with the “Tournament Drawmaster” role have access to the Tournament Dashboard, where they can view and manage tournament entries.

To grant a user a new role:

1. Navigate to the WordPress dashboard, and in the sidebar to Users>All Users.
2. Use the Search Users bar to find an individual.
3. Click on the checkbox next to their name.
4. Using the Add Role dropdown choose the role you wish to grant to the user.
5. Click Add.

You can check that the user listing has the added role. Users can have more than one role.

You can use the same User panel to change or revoke a role.
